Statement of Perspective

Sunsets remind me that endings can be just as beautiful as beginnings. Growing up in North Carolina, I’d watch the sky change from gold to violet over the lake near my house, a quiet ritual that helped me unwind after long days of school and projects. I’ve learned to see change not as something to fear, but as something to appreciate for what it reveals. Each color fading into the next reminds me that transitions can be calm and meaningful.

My background in civic engagement and environmental work makes sunsets feel more than just like a pretty view. After organizing cleanups and pushing for sustainability efforts, I’ve started to see every sunset as both a reward and a reminder to take care of the world that makes it possible.

To me, sunsets mean reflection, renewal, and responsibility. They remind me to slow down, find peace in still moments, and see beauty in things that don’t last forever.
