Statement of Perspective

I spend a lot of time watching the world around me, sometimes more than I actually take part in it. This painting grew from that habit. I wanted to capture the feeling of standing slightly outside the moment, holding a camera or even just my own thoughts, and taking everything in before deciding where I fit. There is a quiet comfort in observing. It gives me space to understand things without the pressure of reacting right away.

In this scene, the girl is facing the mountains and cabins, recording something that feels meaningful to her even if she is not in the center of the action. I relate to that. I have always felt that some of my clearest insights come when I step back and pay attention. Watching people talk, noticing small details in nature, or simply listening has helped me understand myself better.

While painting this, I realized how valuable that stillness is. Observing gives me time to process what matters, without rushing into decisions or noise. “Observer” reminds me that there is strength in stepping back, taking a breath, and letting the world unfold for a moment before joining in.
