Statement of Perspective

The first time I pictured this scene, I was thinking about how far away peace can feel in everyday life. “Secluded” grew from that feeling. The small cabin tucked into the trees is a place I have never actually lived in, yet it holds the kind of quiet I keep imagining for myself. It sits at the end of a narrow path, surrounded by wildflowers that grow without being arranged or controlled. That sense of untidy calm mattered to me.

I often move through days filled with notifications, schedules, and conversations that never fully end. While painting, I wanted to slow that pace down. The thick forest behind the house forms a natural wall, almost like a boundary between the noise of the outside world and the inner space we protect. The cabin is simple and slightly worn, which suggests a life that makes room for rest instead of constant performance.

The muted greens and soft sky help the eye settle. Nothing in the image tries to compete for attention. Spending time with this piece reminded me that solitude can feel like care, not avoidance. “Secluded” is my reminder that it is possible to step away, even briefly, and let stillness become a home of its own.
